Lord Marrin comes from royal blood, and the bloodline has all but died out. Exiled ages ago from the oceans, the Flock had their new feathers dipped in gold to further their shame by preventing flight.
Generations of exile found Marrin, the last of the Flock and Queen-less, desperately seeking to redeem his family and return to the sea. After consulting seers and making a pilgrimage to the Oracle, Marrin discovered that a tiny jewel, passed down to him within a golden locket, was in actuality an ancient relic stolen from the terrible Sea Goddess, Merana.
In a risky move, Marrin bargained with the witch, offering the return of the jewel if she would restore his kingdom. Desiring the relic, Merana agreed... for what was the threat of a tiny kingdom of sea birds, when she held the very oceans in her claws?
