In the dead of the night, the trudging of feet can be heard atop the crisp, frosted earth. The air is cold, much too cold, the breath of the living visible with each swirling puff. In the distance there stands a gate. It's tall, much too tall, conjuring up images of men on stilts or animals with long, long necks. Beyond the gate looms a twinkling wonderland of tents and machinery. Rumbles and booms and roars and screams. The squeaking of metal pierces the night air as the wheels of ancient thrill rides crank endlessly onward.
