Will you really leave me, to watch the spider lilies bloom, all by myself?

There is a giant forest just a little north of Shadowglen. It was known for the spider lilies that used to grow there every year in mid-spring. When the flowers bloomed, the wind would send thousands of petals into the air, staining the whole field and the sky above it with a bloody red hue. It was a spectacular scene that had attracted many travelers in the past. Because it was so beautiful and unworldly, they used to call it the "The Lost Paradise." However, all good things must come to an end at some point. There was a wild fire a few decades back that nearly devoured everything in the forest. The fire lasted ten days and nights and when it finally died out, there was nothing but dead carcasses and burnt down trees on the ground. It happened in the middle of the spring, the blooming seasons of the spider lilies.

After the fire, plants and animals slowly re-colonized the damaged forest, bringing life back to the once lifeless land. However, strangely, the spider lilies never came back. The travelers who went there in hope of seeing the flowers all came back disappointed, but they all say, during their stay, they have spotted a mysterious creature of some sort, with flowers growing out of its body, haunting the forest at night. People grew frightened, and they started to avoid the forest. Some say the forest has grown angry, and others believe the forest was bewitched. No one talks about the spider lilies field anymore; it's as if it had never existed at all. Instead, they speak of evil shadows, wicked witches, and horrifying phantoms.

Teal was a resident of the forest back when the spider lilies would still bloom in the spring. Ever since the day she was born, Teal was always shy and reserved; she never really played well with the other Celinox of her age. In fact, she was almost an outcast because of her social awkwardness. Despite her poor communication skills, her curiosity exceeded that of all the other Celinox of her clan. Teal's favorite daily activities consisted of exploring the forest and observing other forest dwellers and plants. She was always excited for spring because of the blooming spider lilies and the arrival of exotic travelers. That was how she met her first and only friend, a limping Skelihaund, who originally came to see the spider lilies and later made residence in the forest. At first, Teal was very weary of the newcomer; he was more than 5 times of her size after all! But it didn't take long for them to become acquainted. The Skelihaund turned out to be an outcast as well, abandoned by his pack because of his leg injury. Teal and the Skelihaud soon became friends, and they promised each other that they would watch the blooming spider lilies together every year.

Then the wildfire happened, mercilessly spreading throughout the terrain. Most of the animals had fled, but the Skelihaund had fallen behind due to his leg injury. Teal decided to stay behind despite the strong objections from her clan. She was determined to help her friend. As they slowly tread through the burning wood with great difficulty, a tree fell down directly on top of the two fleeing friends...

When Teal woke up, the fire had long gone, leaving only smoke and ashes behind. The Skelihaund was nowhere to be seen. Immediately, she noticed that something was different. She was not herself! An ear was missing, and so was the tip of her tail... and what were those things on the corner of her eyes?! Then something incredible happened, flowers started to grow out of her body, replacing her ear and her tail. And her eyes turned into bright red from the deep ocean blue color that they once were. It was not until then that Teal finally realized that she was dead. She had become a lost shadow, trapped in a home that no longer existed. Though how she still remained in this world was a mystery, perhaps it was due to her determination to help out a friend, or her compassion for the spider lilies. But where was her friend? Destiny couldn't be so cruel to leave her behind all by herself, could it??? Teal searched the area, desperately trying to find her friend but she found nothing except death everywhere. She grew sad and unhappy as each day passed. She cried many nights, but she never gave up. Even until this day, Teal is still searching and waiting for the spider lilies and her friend to come back.
