My mother, Asanti, was a wild lion. She grew up on the savannah far away from humans with whips and hoops. She was captured as a young lion and brought to the circus where she met my father, Diablo. He was a huge, fierce looking panther who had never set one paw in a jungle. I grew up in the circus and I was the mane… caugh excuse me… main attraction. All my life Mom told me stories of the pride lands. I wanted rid of my collar and chain. I wanted to stalk my prey and kill it myself. I wanted to run free without running into a wall. I wanted to bask in the sun and feel the wind in my mane. More than anything I wanted to be part of a pride. Mom did the best she could to teach me how to be a lion but nothing in the circus could prepare me for life on my own. To be continued.
