"Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Applications"

That's what they called themselves. DHARMA, the self proclaimed world-saving science initiative. They barge onto an island in the South Pacific, attacking the natives and bulldozing the jungles. Doesn't seem very "world saving" to me.

But, of course, all I was to them was an experiment. They were trying to recreate something that they called "the monster". Luckily for me, the tests stopped after the natives staged a purge, killing all of the Dharma Initiative. As for me? I'm stuck wandering around as some half-finished experiment. The only thing I want is some revenge.
