I ain't got no crystal ball.
Well--I had a million dollars but I spent it all.
What I really wanna know
What I really wanna say, I can't define.
Well, it's love that I need.
My soul will have to wait.
Melexsia "Mele" Dawn Daniels, 23, Florist
I've come a long way, haven't I? Doctors never told me it would be this hard, well...no one told me getting my life together would be this hard. But then again, no one quite told me I'd get this far you know...with the CF and all. 30 years is my due date, and as I hit 7 years 'left', all I really can do is live the way I have been. I've never been much of a risk taker. I prefer the little life I've created for myself, for him, for everyone important to me. I've learned to tie things off, to let go, because, well tough--I want to save them the trouble. What good is touching a persons life if I'm branded with an expiration date. I've never really lived I suppose.
Though I do recall one time...
---------------------------------
She wakes up every morning with a faint smile, a facade for everyone around her. The scent of flowers--lilies, daisies, roses--linger on her skin no matter how hard she scrubs with her loofa. She dresses simply, t-shirt and good jeans, and a vibrant green apron with her name embroidered on it. Nothing in particular is spectacular about Mele Daniels. Blonde hair sprouts from her scalp and stops softly against the dip in her neck, one small sign of her fellow blonde free-loving ways of her parents in the seventies. Being the eldest in her group of 6, she has always been the maternal one, the worrywart, the old-woman...but she never seems to mind.
For the most part, Mele Dawn Daniels plays the part of the plain jane heroine in her messy and tragic life. But only one thing remains that lightens the burden--a padlock necklace and the memories of a man who taught her how to live. Those were the days, she'd always mutter to herself.
Those were the days.
