Kristof is a faun-like creature: gangly wolfish hindquarters support a human torso, covered head to toe in short, ruffled, dusty white feathers and down instead of fur. His glorious tattered wings are ticked in a silvery taupe, longest feathers darkening at the tips, almost lace-like in spite of their rough condition. Dull, honey-gold human eyes sit atop the maw of a hound, ivory horns of a ram spiraling around long, wispy, upright ears.

He is, in fact, a type of angel, emanating a very faint glow, the archetypal halo hovering over his head. Kristof’s family of angels all take the same natural form. They can shift into other pale forms, especially doves, dogs, and humans, in order to carry out their mission as tenders of the soul, using subtle or indirect methods to defend mortals from pain and corruption.

Kristof was an unfortunate rarity among his kind, however: intrigued by the great power greed held over mortals, he would often test and observe how feebly their morality stood up to such pressure. His family of angels attempted to reform him for years, but one unforgivable action resulted in his exile.

Long ago, two ravaged kingdoms were finally on the brink of peace after many decades of war. Kristof presented one king with the prospect of endless wealth for the royal family, but only if he obliterated his already surrendered enemy and enslaved his own people. The king - who was not evil, but had watched his wife mourn the loss of her brothers and sons, and was so far detached from the suffering of his people - eagerly agreed, and Kristof suddenly found himself in possession of his first soul.

A variety of interested parties soon approached him; the ability to cleanly extract souls was previously thought exclusive to the most powerful unholy beings, so souls are highly sought after, and Kristof had harvested a particularly potent bounty. He would eventually strike a deal with an unassuming man, casually dressed with neat brown hair and light blue eyes, who introduced himself as Lucifer and proposed a partnership.

Over the centuries, he has amassed innumerable souls, along with great wealth and power. He is a highly influential person in the modern age under his mortal ruse – Danish magnate in a flawless suit – and the strife following his influence is undoubtedly as egregious. Highly charismatic and powerful, his sociopathic ‘pragmatism’ only further endears him to his followers.
