Boho’s mother was a whore with a very strange sense of humour. Mind, she was a high class whore, which is more than your mother will ever amount to, as Boho likes to point out. She was a part of a prostitution industry local to the city warehouses; where they branded both whore and patron alike. The branding was akin to a go-card—to make sure the patron wasn’t a copper. They tattooed a number in a coppery green to the arms of the men who administered patronage, on the abdomens of the whores, and on the backs of the whores children, in hopes that in shame of their branding, they will feel they have no choice but to work anywhere else. Boho’s mother was one of those branded children. She was at the end of her rope when she had Boho, and was ready to make any attempt to see the child that she would probably never get to see speak, live to have a happier life. Therefore, the life backwards of a hobo made perfect sense, “Boho”. For a while, Boho did grow up in the whore house where his mother had lived. He became a sort of apprentice to one of the franchisers. He learned how to stop a pregnant woman from hemorrhaging, how to ease pains without injuring the body, and how to kill a whore that had outlived her purpose; all with the tools made available to him through an alleyway. As soon as he reached the age twenty-one, he left. Of course, there was no obstacle in leaving—just the tattoo. But Boho had studied the bare minimum in order to be a street doctor, so he was able to make his way with tourniquets, and odd injections of morphine. His reputation for being the street doctor reached a kindly old Medical PhD. The old man brought him into his clinic and taught him more about medicine. Boho trained for five years in the art of medicine, having it completely mastered just in time to understand what happened when the Doctor’s wife put hemlock in his tea. Boho now works as a wandering doctor, going from clinic to clinic as he’s needed. Rumour has it that he’s working for a government agency of some sort now. After all, that’s just what they wanted isn’t it, a doctor that isn’t afraid of a little extra blood?
