Ensign Personal Log, stardate 4523.7

The captain announced today that the R&R session on Starbase 6 has been canceled. Looks like I won't be getting a decent shot of vodka anytime soon--just my luck, because the stuff we have on board makes even the scotch look good. (...dont' tell Mr. Scott I said that...)

Ah, I miss the Motherland. The beauty of St. Petersburg, the snow, my people-- the vodka --I never thought I would become homesick...But I might as well admit, I'm relieved this mission is only five years. Perhaps, upon our return, I'll find the time to visit again before I'm reassigned.

Fulfilled dual duties today--relieved Mr. Spock of Science officer position half way through my navigation shift. He hasn't been the same since the Intrepid incident. Though if I heard the cries of 400 of my own countrymen right before they died, I'd be put out too.

I caught myself thinking about Irina today. I'm not sure why. Sometimes I still try to figure out what went wrong between us.
Well, wherever she is in the universe, I hope she's happy--and that I'll never see her again.

I found a tribble in security's equipment locker today--decided not to tell the captain.

Signing off,
Ensign Chekov
