marvin is basically a nerd bird (examples here, here and here) who is secretly a superhero in his spare time. he's kind of a giant loser, not really in the traditional way, but more so a loser because he tends to lose everything that he manages to get his hands (claws?) on. the one thing he's never lost is his siren/pager thingy that glows red whenever a poor bird is getting beaten up by a larger one. he then goes and puts on his cape and transforms into THE NERD BIRD and saves the bird/beats up the bully. he actually does work out in his spare time (when he can find his weights, which isn't exactly terribly often), but he never was strong enough to stand up for himself. so since he was never strong enough to save himself, he's pledged to dedicate his life to helping others.
he's an almost entirely dark blackish european starling (but fatter and cuter - in a nerdy way), whose feathers light up when he gets near danger.
