even from birth, joshua had had a pretty hard life.
his friends would make fun of him for his hair, and his parents thought that he was the work of the devil.
the only person that never jeered or make fun of him was his sister. his albino sister, who was just as weird as he was.
everything was pretty hard, but joshua endured it. life went on.
until it happened.
i feel like its just happened yesterday. black. and red. then black again. dear, sweet liesl's crying, terrified face. she was weeping, but i didn't know why. "i'm alright. i'm alright." i told her, but she wouldn't listen. i wasn't alright, though, i didn't know what was wrong with me. we were in the corner of the old barn, where liesl used to hide when she was little, to jump out and give a terrible scare to everyone, because she looked like a ghost, with her porcelain white skin and hair.
she was crying, but she was my sun and she never cried. it broke my heart.
oh don't cry liesl, don't cry. don't cry, please. i can't stand to see you like this.
mama and papa have done terrible things, she said. terrible things. then she looked at me and i just died from the emotion in her eyes. i want to leave, she said. please. that was it, i didn't need any explanation, nothing. i couldn't stand her like that, i didn't want to look at those sad, sad eyes that weren't crying because she was staying strong.. for my sake.
we left straight away.
