Copper Wars

There once was a town called Verdigris Patina, it was a peaceful placed full of inventors and steamworkers, there was a coppersmith in this town named Kemilas, he was the best at what he did and his works sold extraordinarily well. Competitors were livid as they watched their income drop. So one day a man and his mean came to shoot poor Kemilas dead.

Now the town was in a panic, but they only had until sunrise to do something. So they began to build machines. Kemilas brought the copper, old Frank, he supplied the steel , Bob and Sue they had extra chains, and Tommy brought the wheels. They worked through the night until the sun dawned.

When the man and his men came at dawn the town was deathly silent, not a soul was to be heard. He yelled out, "Kemilas Come Out and fight me like a man!"

That was when the churning and the chugging sounds began. An army of the townsfolk soon poured out into the street. Each of them on steam-bikes, and they all were packing heat.

A battle broke out there in the street the man and his men were strung up with ropes and grappling hooks but bpierced his hearefore they were run out of town, the leader of the gang, well , he shot poor Kemilas. One bullet grazed his nose the other buried itself in his chest.
Now with the man and his men gone, Verdigris Patina had won the copper war but Kemilas would never be the same.

Ladies and gentleman, step right up and behold, the most amazing animatronic creatures ever created! From the steam-powered swan, to the gear-filled gorilla, this is truly a sight to see! You don't want to miss it!"

The man, the inventor calls out to the crowd he is wearing a jacket and beckoning around, he had a scar over his nose but a sweet smile on his face.
Hey did you here, down at the west end! There's a place you have to go. They are having the West End Show today! There is a brilliant man and he's built machines, amazing robots on display.

Its a Mechanical Menagerie. Look at all the animals, in this automated zoo.

A clockwork crow that really flies. Metal monkeys that climb, tick tock tigers and bionic bees. Even wind-up wombats.

Kemilas smiled at the people who came to see the things he created, sure it was a far cry from his days as a copper smith but he couldn't be happier as he saw the children laugh and poke at the Mechanical Menagerie that he had set up. Business was booming and everything was great.

He closed up for the night with a smile and a wave tomorrow the show would open again. Walking to the back room and sat down with a smile and took out his notebook. Thinking for a moment he began to draw more designs and works to created. Stopping once or twice though for the pain in his chest. Around midnight he turned and stopped drawing opening up his vest and shirt he looked at the small port on his chest; then taking a key he began to turn the lock on it winding it whispering with a sad smile " Clockwork gear and clockwork spring to move is clockworks will... but in the end that certain end all clockworks must stand still...."
For you see my friends, Kemilas would have died that day. However, with the power of the clockworks they were able to save his life, a clockwork heart replacing the one he lost, but even then that is not a permanent solution, for one day even clockworks fail.

For a clockwork is a terrible and wondrous thing...
