The day the sun fell, she had been out hunting.

The other, lesser creatures had stilled, and then panicked, running for cover (as if that would have done them any good), but she, she had been ecstatic, uncorking the lovely vial she'd prepared for today's catch. Her gut had told her today would be special, and she'd been saving this for just the right occasion: a lovely crystalline decanter, all graceful lines and slender curves.

Once her errand was completed, she retreated back into the ocean, to the underwater grotto she called home (or would have, if she had any inkling of what the word meant). She nudged aside the various bottles that littered the cave floor -- her horde -- until there an open space to place her prize. Satisfied, she curled up atop the pile, settling in for a long sleep.

The star would tide her over until she woke again.
