He doesn't have a lot of friends, as he keeps very much to himself. The friends he does have are primarily girls, who took pity on him when he transferred from out of state and didn't know anybody. His introverted nature makes others believe that he is snobby, but he is really quite shy. This, and his somewhat effeminate nature made him a large target for bullies with nothing better to do. Shoaa finds companionship in animals, not human beings, because animals are always honest and loyal, and not deceitful, like his human friends.

For a long time his neighbor, [url="http://subeta.net/pets/ZARSY"]Zarsy[/url], was his only friend. The summer Shoaa moved into town they spent every waking hour at the local pool or at Zar's house playing video games. Zar, as Shoaa calls him, is a 25 year old high school drop-out who spends his time skateboarding and planning for the zombie apocalypse. It was Zarsy that gave Shoaa his nickname because his real name was too hard to spell (Zar really lives up to his reputation as a bum), andShoaa developed an intense infatuation for the older man, but he knows that because of their age difference that their relationship will always remain platonic, so he does not pursue his feelings. Zarsy is the closet thing to a role model Shoaa has ever had. His mother works long shifts and his father was long gone before he was born. A strict woman who takes her job very seriously, she's raised Shoaa very carefully. He is not allowed to talk on the phone or use the internet (he does anyway), and he is expected to maintain a 4.0 gba. Shoaa never really had a caring home and attention from his mother was nearly non-existent. There was no room in his mother's busy schedule for affection. On his tenth birthday he got a rabbit, his mother thinking it a good idea for the boy to learn some responsibility. He named it Kiwi and keeps him in his room, spoiling and over-feeding the poor creature. He means well though, really.

The only male friend he has, besides Zarsy (who really could be considered to be more of an older brother), is [url="http://subeta.net/pets/kennison"]Kennison[/url], a sullen boy from his homeroom class. They are complete opposites in personality but Kennison gives Shoaa the affection he craves, even if their 'relationship' is mostly one-sided. Kennison is a deeply troubled boy, but Shoaa cares about him and they both depend on each other, but Kennison gives him almost nothing in return. Shoaa has always been there for Kennison, after every nightmare and vision he experiences, and Kennison's reputation makes the local thugs wary of messing with the smaller boy. Their relationship has had more ups than downs but since Kennison became his unofficial body-guard Shoaa has become more outgoing and happy with the knowledge that his boyfriend will kick the living shit out of anyone who messes with him. In spite of the way Kennison may treat Shoaa sometimes he is extremely protective over him, probably his only redeeming quality.

Shoaa wears bright and colorful clothing and dreams of becoming a fashion designer in New York, but he has no faith in his own ability. Despite his obvious talent he kicks himself around and refuses to show his designs to anyone, except for the woman who owns the fashion boutique he works at. He is far too embarrassed to ever post them online, or on his fashion blog. As well as fashion Shoaa loves cupcakes and sweets, because they are the only indulgences allowed by his mother. The apartment they live in is just a block or so away from an upscale bakery and he spends his allowance each weeks on decorative cakes, candies and other sweets. Kennison warns him that if he continues to eat so much candy he'll get fat but Shoaa doesn't care. He'll be dammed if he ever has to give up his double-chocolate fudge brownies.
