Take a ride in the rushing waters of the world,
and see where the twilight takes you.

Among the glittering ores

Having been born with the ability to see through darkness, work in the mines seemed a natural fit.

As the leader, I often stood in the small stream that wound through the mine, because it allowed me to observe my teammates' work, be easily found when needed, and stay out of the way. However, it also meant that when I emerged, the dust would cling to my boots and body even more than it did to others.

Aegean, my pet Heifawn, trotted over to my location, the five lights from his candle antlers frantically flickering. As I bent over to comfort him, a loud banging noise echoed throughout the cavern. Men were yelling in fear, and scooping up Aegean, I ordered them to run deeper into the mine. Rocks crashed down around us, but I used my chest to shield Aegean and stayed behind to make sure everyone made it ahead of us.

When it was no longer safe to stay and ensure everyone else's safesty, I ran after them, my brown boots crashing on the ground, pushing me forward. My men and I dove into a side cavern and waited for the noise to stop.

And we waited.

How long have we been waiting?

Our radios haven't been working, so we can't call for outside help. We tried digging through the rubble, but even when we all go at it, there is so much rock boarding up the exit, we can't get through. Instead, it only causes a minor avalanche into our already cramped quarters.

The lights on Aegean's candle antlers have been fading these past hours, days, weeks. Who knows how long we've been here. Those disappearing lights are a clear symbol to us of the question lingering in the air: will we ever get out?
