Do you trust your life to prophecy?

She awoke from a pleasant dream to distant shouts. Shaking her head to clear the last remnants of sleep, she stopped suddenly. 'My head feels clear' she thought. Had they forgotten? It seemed like a ridiculous chance to take, but if they had.. She couldn't pass it up. She was needed elsewhere.

She tentatively pulled back the blankets and felt her way through the darkness to the door latch. 'Quietly now Meroe, now is not the time for shaking hands.' Lifting the latch, she nudged the door, which moved silently on well-oiled hinges. Thankfully he had spared no expense in the maintenance of her prison. She poked her head out quickly. Nobody there. Sighing with relief, she returned to her cell and gathered anything of import. A few changes of clothes, a cloak, her tea leaves. It made a sorry bundle to throw over her back, but it would have to do. 'Best to put the cloak on now', she thought. Her dark hair made her stand out in this country of fair people. Not to mention the tattoos. They were necessary, but if she hadn't insisted on her right to them, she wouldn't be in this mess in the first place..

'Don't dwell on the past woman. Focus.' She took a moment to consider her escape. Through the servants quarters would probably be the best route. Less chance that someone of import would notice her and bundle her back into this tower. Getting through the gates might be difficult, but she had a few tricks to use if necessary; she would have to find a horse later, out in the country side.

And then off to awaken those that were needed. Her prophecy demanded she find them before it was too late.

Ignoring the angry shouts (who knew what the men were upset about, as long as they had forgotten her it didn't matter!), she steeled herself and snuck out of the door, closing it silently. Before she started down the flights of stairs she looked back at the room that had held her for many months and made a vow; 'One day, when my purpose in the world is done, I will come back. And I will kill you for what you have done.'
