Like many dragonkin, Mahar mature slowly and are hatched as a neutral gender. Once they outgrow their nest, they may decide whether to be male or female or remain the same.
With warm food and friendly companions to play with, Skirata quickly grew. When Skirata reached a larger size, it decided that it didn't want to be male or female and would continue life happy and content as a neutral gender.
During the growing spurt Skirata became an avid reader and devoured books almost as quickly as its meals.
Seeking out more knowledge and more mysterious magic, Skirata begged Jonquil to take it with her on her next journey through Subeta.
During the trip Skirata noticed a vial of strange material in the store and was instantly drawn towards the glowing container. Jonquil hesitated as she realized that Skirata wanted to imbibe the rare nuclear material that the vial held.
After a brief conversation with the shop owner about the properties, she discovered that it wouldn't harm Mahars, but transform them into a magically imbued form.
Jonquil agreed to purchase the vial and soon the Mahar was a jet black and green color. Magical power teemed forth from Skirata's gem-encrusted scales. Skirata continues to seek out more magical items within the world of Subeta.
