meet Lauri YlÃ¶nen :D

Lauri YlÃ¶nen is the lead singer and songwriter for the band The Rasmus. He was born in Helsinki, Finland, the 23th of April, 1979. He was attracted to music since he was young: when he was 5, he learnt to play the piano, and, later, the guitarr and the drums. Later, his sister, Hanna, also suggested him to sing as well. He tried it out, and decided to keep on with that.

He met Eero Heinonen when he was eight years old, and became close friends. When Lauri and Eero started at Suutarila High School, they met Pauli Rantasalmi, and, later, Janne Heiskanen. Lauri initiated the project of The Rasmus [in that time, first called Trashmosh, then Antilla, and then, Rasmus] in 1994, with Eero (bass), Pauli (guitar) and Janne (drums). He became the songwriter, composer and singer of the band. He left school because the band took too much of his time.

After recording 3 albums, Janne left the band and Aki Hakala became the band's new drummer.

Peroxide blond and smirking, Lauri YlÃ¶nen wobbles on his chair: â€œI will tell you how our friends reacted, they thought: â€˜Heavens, you canâ€™t do that!â€™ An excellent compliment, I think.â€

Dynasty was founded in 1999. It's an association that consists in three Finnish bands: The Rasmus, Killer and Kwan. Its purpouse was to signify allegiance and friendship between the bands and their members. Many of the members wear the Dynasty logo in their guitar straps, or have a tattoo. Lauri has the Dynasty tattoo in his right arm.
