TRENT DARING:
THE AMAZONIAN MISSION.

Play now as your favourite tigrean, Trent, and face new enemies and terrain! Explore new land, escape new traps, and solve tough puzzles to get through his new mission! Playable now in stores!

~*~

There I was, waiting behind the menu screen again, ready to go on my next adventure. This kid has been playing me for a week. What was his name... Toby? We got really far last time; made it to some lost temple. Toby's a pretty fun kid. It's sad that we have to start over again, but the save function on "demo" games unfortunately doesn't go very far. At least we're being played with right?

Anyways, back to that menu screen. Toby's a little late today. Maybe he finally quit on me? Well, another kid just came by. It looks like he's played this mission before since he's skipped the tutorial. Wait, no, nevermind. He's still trying to work out the controls. Imagine how I'd look if this was "real life" for me right now! But of course it isn't. I know it's just a game, a "program".

Me, Trent, I'm actually programmed into this game. Everything here has been programmed. The trees, the paths, the tools I use. I tried exploring the restricted area before when we're left alone for the night, and of course it's cut off by a barrier. Even I've been programmed to think a certain way, look a certain way, say certain things.

I don't exactly know what a "program" is, but I know it's the reason my world is how it is. Those humans might not be very useful, but they are smart. That's how I found out about "program". For the most part I have everything answered, except one that's been on my mind a lot la - -

GAME OVER

Hey, no worries, kid. Those crab monsters are really tough. Let's try again.

Anyways, where was I? Oh, looks like those crab monsters were too much for him. The pause screen is much nicer. I get to observe humans while they walk around the "game store". This is how I know so much about their "real life" world and all of its quirky things.

One thing that has been on my mind a lot lately is about who I am. I mean, I know who I am in the game. I'm Trent Daring, wilderness explorer. Full HP, strength, defense, all that jazz. I was wondering who I was. Nothing in my data says what I am other than my specifics. I'm not a game, the world around me is a game. I'm simply a being within the game world. But what would you call me? What am I really? Nobody's given me my answer, not even Toby.

~*~

End of the day. Toby didn't show. I wonder if he found a better game to play? I have very mixed feelings about this time of the day. Everybody's leaving, which is a relief because after I'm free to do what I want. At the same time, though, it's sad because I'm alone. Well, not completely. I've got Rover, the portable unit that "I created" in some sense.

Mommy, I don't want to leave yet! I didn't play the game! I -

Not everybody goes quietly.

Mommy wait please! I want to play! That one, there! Can I play for 5 minutes, please? But -

I'll be in the same place tomorrow. Trust me, I can't move from this spot, kid.

I want to play with the pictures!

-

Wait, what did she say? Pic-turs?

A sudden chill ran down the animated tigrean's spine. Did he finally know what he was? He looked curiously at his pixellated hand. He knew he wasn't real and that this game was created for the purpose of entertainment. And yet, he knew he was something more than just a pixel being in a game. He had his own thoughts and curiosities, his own fondness towards the young children. He couldn't possibly be just a game being. Is he a Picturs? He looked back up and saw that little girl now across the parking lot with her older brother and mother, and smiled.

I guess my real name is Picturs.
