"Kindness is the act of God, flowing through every human and animals veins", said and kept by the angels, but not everyone has enough kindness to give to others...
The rain beat down on the window and the thunder crackled in the distance. A young teenage boy, Chris, was curled up on his bed feeling alone and sad. His tears dripped down his face like the rain dripped down his window. It had been a harsh month for him with his parents divorcing, moving to Steeleport and of course...leaving all those friends behind. He had isolated himself so much that he didn't know who he was anymore....
"Chris are you coming down for some dinner?"
His mothers voice made him sit up right, she was stood there in the doorway, Chris' tears continued to drip down his chin as he opened his mouth and thought to himself
"You're the reason I lost those friends, you are the reason we are here..."
He stood up and contained his anger, he cared too much for his mother to injure her with his words. instead he ran past her and ran for the door. Soon enough, he was dashing down the street, his skin soaked from the rain. He wanted to run away, far far away back home. He knew that if he could escape back home, he would be with his friends once again and he could escape his depressed state of mind..
He reached a small park and crouched into the bush, hiding whilst he regained his breath. The rain had ceased, as if it was fate that this was the day he would escape...
He rolled out the bush and continued down the path until he met a forest like path, he had beenhere many of times but today it seemed different...something didn't feel the same. He continued curiously into the arch of trees and followed the winding path until suddenly he was lost. The path he had once trekked was gone, cascaded by a strange mist. He felt scared but he knew he had to continue, but for how long?
A few hours passed and Chris had arrived at a small clearing. A clean stream flowed and dropped into a small pool. The floor was littered with beautiful flowers that Chris fell in love with straight away as he had never seen such beauty in so many small things before. A willow tree stood tall over the area, its trunk carved like a cave wall. He stopped and admired his surroundings. "What is this place?"
"When I first found this place I asked the same thing..."
Chris jumped in shock and looked around. That voice had come from no-where. The clearing was empty. Where could have that voice come from? A bird perhaps? a small wood-mouse? Chris walked up to the waters edge and looked into the water, his reflection looked back at him. Another reflection appeared next to him, he jumped again as he looked next to him, there was a moment of silence before she spoke...
"I am sorry for staring...but you seem to be a human with a magnificent personality.." Her voice was soft and gentle.
"I'm Sorry?" Chris replied.
"Oh I am very sorry, I am Nerida, Angel of Kindness..."
Chris looked upon her, he had heard about angels but had always thought of them imaginary, or just a mythical story. Nerida's appearance was extraordinary, her long brown hair blew softly in the breeze, her headdress glittered with its gold and ruby in the sunlight and her great golden wings shimmered as a star does.
"Where am I, what am I doing here?" Chris asked
Nerida paused for a moment before gliding over onto the waters surface...
"This is a Glade...Fae Glade...I brought you here, because I felt you needed a home"
Nerida smiled at Chris contently, before gliding over to him quietly and stroking his cheek with her soft hand, Chris felt a little uncomfortable at first glance, but slowly began to mellow to her touch. Nerida then slowly retreated back to a rock at the waters edge and sat upon it resting her wings on the rough surface.
"Chris, you will come and see me tomorrow yes?" Nerida raised her eyebrow.
Chris gasped to this and then smiled and nodded. Nerida bid Chris farewell before he ran back home along the path that Nerida had highlighted for him, and just as he promised, he returned everyday to speak to her, and everyday as they seemed to grow closer they would spend more time together and eventually Chris became so attached to the Glade, that he began to stay there and make it his home along with Nerida. They would sit among the flowers together and talk, Nerida had treated Chris like a brother, they had become joined at the hip and inseparable, until one day Chris awoke and found that Nerida, was dead...
"No Nerida, how could you die?" he sobbed
He laid Nerida's lifeless body on the rocks and poured the Glade's water over her forehead and began to cry again. The only person he had ever cared about was gone from his life, completely. He felt empty without Nerida and the days seemed to prolong even further than before, he'd just sit there waiting..waiting for the moment where he thought Nerida would awaken, but she did not...So Chris laid back and fell asleep for what seemed to be several days before waking up, he felt as terrible as he had before he slept, he cringed as his bones now ached from the lack of food and drink....
A rustle came from just beyond the Glade entrance, he rushed over to see what it was and looked back to see if Nerida was still laid there. Her body was gone and when he turned back to look at the trail another angel was stood there, she stood there with grace...
"Hello?" Chris whimpered
"Hello Chris..." her voice was soft and gentle.
"Who? What? How do you know my name!"
The angel held out her hand and revealed a small headdress, covered in rubies, it had belonged to Nerida....
"You do not know?" she frowned
"How could I? you have only just appeared in front of me! What have you done to Nerida?"
Chris took a few steps back as the angel approached him, and slowly she reached forward and kissed him on the cheek, "I am, Dulcina, Angel of Kindness" Chris was shocked; Nerida had returned to him but not only that but she was alive and now living as Dulcina! As Chris filled with joy, he felt a strange power emerge from inside which blossomed into a love for Dulcina, he had never felt as much happiness to find a loving home, than he did now.
