THE ALCHEMIST'S ASSISTANT

Welcome, welcome! I supposed you are wanting to know a little more about Alchemy, aren't you. I know, Zosi is a little hard to understand and gets distracted easily by food. Trust me, I do know. I'm his apprentice, you see. But really, I do all the work. I'm the one who buys all the ingredients from the Philosopher, the Weeper, and experiments to find the available combinations. I'm also the one who buys all Zosi's food. But I guess you didn't come here to hear about all that. On to Alchemy!

The Ingredients

To start, you'll need ingredients. You can buy those from the Weeper, here. Something many people don't realize is that the Weeper is very inclusive and will sell to anyone! Even the living, all year round! So you can always stock up on your ingredients. Zosi, however, only lets the unliving do Alchemy in the shop, so you'll either have to become zombie-fied during survival or find a kind unliving to do your Alchemy for you. I've heard that Rilla will do it if you ask.

The Combinations

I have to the right in my Treasure Chest one of every item you can buy from the Weeper and one of every item currently available to make here at the Alchemist's (except the last four plushies/beanbags at the bottom, those are just my personal toys and can't be made). These are all the current combinations ~~discovered~~ released. There are toys, books, stickers, clothes, food (that's Zosi's favorite), and more.

You're going to want to decide what item it is you want to make, and then make sure you have all the necessary ingredients. Assuming you are one of the Unliving, you can come in to the Alchove and do the next steps yourself.

Zosi will be there, and he might even take a moment from his food to try and assist you if you can't remember how to make something. He'll also tell you what your alchemy level is and how many skill points you need to advance to the next level. Each time to make an item using alchemy your needed points go down, and your level may go up depending on how many you needed. As of February 28, 2016 levels now work!

The first ingredient you will need are Alchemy Tokens. Those can be seen on the top row of my Treasure Chest and bought from the Philosopher. You'll see any tokens you have in your inventory listed in the second set of choosables, under the tinctures. All of them will be lit up until you choose the on you want. Click on the token for the item you want to make and the others will fade out. You can only choose one token at a time.

If you only have or only choose a token, you will still make an item from that token but the color and design will be completely random. You lower your chances of randomness by also choosing a colored Tincture to go with your token. You can choose more than one color tincture even though the rest fade out when you choose your first one. Some tokens make more than one item in a color, though, so it still might be random which of these you get! For instance, if you chose a Black Tincture to go with your Alchemy Token: Decal then you would gave a 50/50 chance of getting either a Black Twisted Tree Sticker or a Black Saw Time Sticker

Using the Wearable Token and Layer Cards

The only kind of Alchemy Token that uses a Layer Card is the Alchemy Token: Wearable. If you have one of these tokens you can currently choose down to the item what you would like to make. But there are some tricky things involved with this! Like any other token, if more than one thing can be made with those tinctures in that layer, you have a chance of getting any of them!

First, lets say you have decided you would like to make specifically a Bubbling Venom. You will need an Alchemy Token: Wearable, a Purple Tincture, and a Layer Card: Head.

When you first come into the shop, even though you have all three items in your inventory, you will only see your tokens and your tincture. Do not fear! As soon as you select your wearable token, your layer card will magically appear!

Now you will want to click on your tincture and your layer card, and then click "Craft Item". Voila! Alchemy done!

But like I said, there are a few tricks to the wearables and layer cards! If you choose a wearable token and only have one type of layer card in your inventory you still need to actually click on that layer card! It will not automatically be chosen and you will randomly get any wearable available in the tincture color you chose.

As with any other item, you can make random wearables with just an Alchemy Token: Wearable, or you can make a random layer but specfic color by choosing a token and tincture, or (once you've chosen the wearable token) you can make a random color in a specific layer by choosing just the token and the layer card. Don't worry, Zosi will let you know if there is nothing available to be made with your current selections and he'll give you back your items.

Well, I think that's all you need to know about Alchemy. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. The hard part is sometimes being able to grab what you need from the Weeper's store!
