I always promised my family I'd be there for them. Guess I was a little too late.

My family moved from a remote island filled with other elves. My mom and dad thought it was wrong to shelter our family from the outside world and left the island to go to human civilization. I was raised with humans, and they actually didn't mind us elves living among them. We lived a happy life, and it probably would have been very long, for elves have an amazingly long lifespan. One night, all of the lights in the city went out. We were in darkness. Suddenly, there was a large portal outside, forming on the road. From the portal came thousands of creatures known as demonics. They suck the life force from their victims, leaving them a lifeless husk (DEAD). The demonics poured out of the portal, and immediately went looking for prey. In case of a portal, we were told in school to hide and/or run. Yeah right. I was gonna kill all of these suckers to protect my family and maybe other people too. But my mom and dad ushered me and my sister downstairs, into the safe room. We stayed there while my parents went to protect us. After a while, my sister and I went to find our parents. We found their bodies in the hallway before the front door. My sister almost screamed and I was shocked. Everything was silent. We went outside because we though it was safe. We walked to the backyard, where a group of 5 demonic jumped on my sister. They devoured her soul and energy, killing her. By now I was determined to kill the demonics and fueled by fury. I grabbed a garden rake, which was the nearest weapon-like object, and started killing them. I was on the last demonic when it jumped on my chest. I thought I was a goner when I heard a gunshot. The demonic vanished and a figure stood over me. I grabbed my rake, ready to defend myself. The figure turned out to be a 11 year old boy with red hair and green eyes. He was holding a machine gun. "Don't worry, most of 'em are gone now." he said. "Come with me." I followed him to a van and got in. While in the van, I made a vow to myself under the moonlit night:[center]
