Sodalite is not a prevalent gemstone, and suitable material only comes from a handful of localities. Despite this, sodalite is a fairly inexpensive and obtainable. It is very similar to the more popular lapis lazuli, and may be used as a substitute for that more valuable gemstone.
A light, relatively hard yet fragile mineral well known for its blue color, sodalite may also be grey, yellow, green, or pink and is often mottled with white veins or patches. The more uniformly blue material is used in jewellery.
Sodalite crystal healing properties promote peace, confidence, self-esteem and tranquility. Sculptors, painters, and artists were known to carry sodalite for inspiration. It is thought to promote the highest form of self-expression.
