The war had just begun when Yasuo was born. His mother was terrified that her son would grow up in a world ruled by demons and that he would be a slave or worse. So, in desperation, she called upon a powerful demon and begged him make her son like him. If Yasuo was a demon he would rule in the new world order and not suffer. She was doing what she thought was best for her child. The demon agreed to the deal if it ment her life ended as a result.

She agreed and kissed her baby goodbye. The demon consumed the mother then turned on the babe. The transformation was almost complete when Sorceress Takara entered and saw what was happening. She vanquished the demon quickly, but not quickly enough. The child had become part demon and the proof was all too clear. Taking pity on the young one, she took him in as her own and has since been fighting to rid him of his affliction.

Years have passed and although his outward appearance is daunting, his heart is pure. Takara has encouraged him to learn her spells and gives him piles of books. At first he wasn't at all interested but then he discovered that you can re-animate dead objects, something Takara hates. So he does it to annoy her.
