Personality
Talvehtia has always been a gentle, quiet, yet caring individual, even though he has spent most of his life alone in his mountain. He's extremely connected to the world around him, while it is usually covered in snow, feels saddened each winter as the flowers and other plants begin to die off. Talvehtia has a huge respect and need to protect life as well. He asks forgiveness of the non-sentient animals he kills for food or for clothing, and none of the animal is put to waste. Other than the hunting out of necessity he does, Talvehtia abhors violence and killing, and would only kill another one of his kind in order to protect something he values or loves.

Because of his time spent alone, Talvehtia lacks a few social skills. While he's never purposefully rude, and always offers any aid he can to a person, he's very likely to drift into silence, as that is what he's known and is content with. Talvehtia enjoys quiet moments, epspecially with company he feels close with, so that he may simply dwell and think on his feelings; which are usually of happiness.

With Valkea, Talvehtia's recent mate, he also enjoys these quiet moments together. He's fiercely protective of the other, and treats him as best as he's able. He gathers food for the other, makes his clothes, and keeps him warm during the harsher winter nights. He's not seen too far from the other's side, unless he's hunting. Even though the two have not known each other for very long, Talvehtia shares a deep connection with Valkea and will do just about anything to keep him safe and happy.

History
Talvehtia was born and raised high in the mountains surrounding a valley, which houses an enchanted forest and several rumored magical glades. The mountain chain itself has a very harsh and cold climate, but Talvehtia and his kind have never minded it. He was the youngest of three kits, all brothers. His father was a very strong and wise person, and because of this, he admired him a great deal. His mother was caring, if but a little strict. When Talvehtia's brothers grew, they left their family den to find new territories of their own. And shortly after, Talvehtia came of age as well but couldn't bring himself to leave his aging parents alone.

When he was seventeen, his father was killed by the Iron-tamers, a name given to the people who come into the valley and the surrounding area in search of things they can exploit through their machinery. Talvehtia later found out that the Iron-tamers who killed his father had found a diamond deposit in the mountainside near his family home, and killed the aging fox who was only trying to protect his home.

Knowing the area was no longer safe, Talvehtia was forced to take his grieving mother to a new den, far from where they had lived all their lives. She only lasted another year, in her grief, before she passed a sorrowful death with her son at her side. Now eighteen, Talvehtia was on is own. With the growing advancement of the Iron-tamers, and the bitter reminders left in the new den of his mother, he set out alone in search of his own territory far from his family's homes. He found one, just in time for winter that he deemed safe enough.

The following springs that came, Talvehtia spent his years alone, and developed an extensive territory for himself, complete with several dens and hunting grounds. He has been challenged a few times, but his father taught him well and he has defended his land for over four years. In that time, he began to feel lonely, but never went in search of a mate in fear of the loss, as his mother had suffered. Because his kind mated for life, he did not think he could bare it if he were to lose another he loved. So he kept to himself.

That changed in the recent winter, when a half-frozen popoko wandered into his den to escape a blizzard. Valkea, he learned, had been pushed from his home near the forest's edge by the Iron-tamers, and so, he offered his home to the other, at least until the storm had passed and he could search for a new place on his own. They spent the months together, mostly holed up in Talvehtia's den for warmth and occasionally venturing outside to collect food, or simply enjoy themselves.

Once spring came again, they both found they could not bare to say goodbye to each other, even if Valkea had found a den near to the Talvehtia's; it would not have been the same. And so they agreed to continue to share the territory. Talvehtia had become increasingly attached to the other, and he soon felt the longing for a mate again. And so, he bravely related his fears to the other, and spoke of his family one night, and asked if Valkea would be willing to stay with him for the rest of his life. Talvehtia was overjoyed and a little surprised to learn that Valkea had been dwelling on similar thoughts himself.

And so the two were mated, one day in the middle of spring and have been inseparable ever since. The two plan to journey down to the forests and glades at the base of their mountain home soon, to simply enjoy the change in weather and each other.
