Battlestar is not from the sky, although he now considers it his home. He came from a noble bloodline of warriors, spawned on the planet Cerberus. He led a simple life and fought many wars to protect his people, and was happy. Battlestar never questioned who he was supposed to be until one fateful night....

An meteor had hit his land, killing many, wounding many. But what was an meteor to Battlestar, other than an enemy who had struck from above? Who was this enemy he couldn't see, why couldn't he protect his fellow Cerberians from what had happened? He suddenly had questions he had never had before, and was determined to get answers. A year past, and he still frequented the areas in which the damage had been done, looking for answers, looking for clues...... and one day he found one.

He picked up a bluish glowing gem from the rubble. What is this? he asked himself. Could this be owned by the enemy of the skies? He held it in his paw, watching the light gleam and bounce off the surface. Surely, this had not come from his planet, after all, he would have seen one before. It was strange, and beautiful. It must mean something. Day turned to night and he stood in this place, holding this gem, the Aquamarine in his paw, trying to understand what it meant. The sunbeams became moonlight, and as they did he heard a voice, then saw a faint figure appear in the distance.

Battlestar walked towards the figure, unsure of what to expect. As the image became clearer he saw a man, unlike any man he had seen. The man looked old and wise, and not one for battle. Surely this could not be his enemy. But his clothes looked like that of the sky, and that is where his enemy had fired off the weapon which has caused so much pain for his people. Are you the one who has hurt us old man? Battlestar asked uncertainly. No young warrior, I have not hurt you, not with any intent at least. My name is Itallo. And you, are Battlestar. A warrior of legend!

So you have hurt us unintentionally? i do not understand! Was it not an act of war?

Well you cannot expect us to have complete control of the sky! No, this was no act of war. There are some of us who live in the sky and try to prevent these sort of this from happening, I am sorry we weren't able to prevent this. We have quite a few other responsibilities as well. Not me however, I have spent most of my years in a cave. Itallo chuckled.

I don't understand! who are "we"? What kind of responsibilities do you speak of in the sky? This is silly. I don't even believe you. Why should I listen to a stupid old man that lives in a cave.

It's a lot to take in. I suppose I can make you understand. But I must warn you, it will change you forever. And it will cost you that gem that you hold in your hand

Battlestar looked down at the gem. He wished so badly to understand. Even if he didn't know what would become of him next. He held out paw to Itallo, offering the Aquamarine. Itallo muttered some words under his breath, and the moonlight lit the gem, and then Battlestar himself felt as if he was being bathed in the light. He understood everything then, and there were no more words exchanged between himself and Itallo. There didn't need to be. He knew everything of the universe and of time and space. He knew of the meteor, and what beauty laid ahead for the people of his city when they rebuilt from the damage. Battlestar looked down at his body and saw that the Aquamarine he was blessed with had left a sort of imprint on his body.

He had so many thoughts in that moment, and now that he knew of all the sky had to offer, he was determined to explore it for himself. To visit other planets and races, and learn new ways of life. And most importantly, he could protect his people from above, to make sure another tragedy of this magnitude would never happen again. He ascended to the sky and has been exploring ever since, still picking up pieces of gems he finds along the way.
