„And Again! One Two Three Four. Step left. Step right. Two Three Four. And Stooop!”
Shannan fetched her bottle of mineral water and took a big draft. “Bye girls, see you next Thursday!” she told the teenage girls passing by on their way to the changing room. The Hip Hop dance lesson of the 12 to 16-year old was over, Shannan’s last course for today. She sighed. Finally leisure-time. Shannan sighed again. What a horrible day! But it had started so good. When Shannan woke up, shafts of sunlight flooded her bedroom and a blue early summer sky smiled at her. Shannan had breakfast with a friend at a nearby café, some fresh croissants with strawberry jam and a huge cup of caffe latte. Thereafter she attended her first lecture for the day, English literature. Shannan was a third-semester student at Centropolis University, studying science of education to become a high school teacher one day. The subjects she chose for her future career were music and English, both turning out to be twice as boring as she though when she made her decision back then after she had finished school. Sometimes Shannan regretted her decision to become an educator, but there were also good times, during the pedagogy lectures with her favourite professor Mrs. Stein for example.That morning during her lecture, a handsome young man who sat in the same tier as her often smiled it her, which made Shannan’s heart jump. She knew that he had enlisted to this university this year after spending his first two semesters at Riverside College, and he shared several courses with her. But she didn’t even know his name. After English literature Shannan had to write a music exam. She had learned for two weeks, but during the exam she had some kind of blackout. She couldn’t even answer half of the questions. The clock hand on the big silver clock on the wall turned slowly, and Shannan tried to trump up with something intelligent. Two hours later, a frustrated spectrum kerubi left the exams room. And if her bad luck wasn’t upsetting enough, at the following lunch at the cafeteria a friend spilled all his coffee on her new light blue blouse. Because she had no time to go home and change clothes, Shannan had to attend all the following lectures in her wet, brown-spreckled blouse. And during the last course, it started to rain. No nice summer showers, but heavy raindrops fell from the sky like icy stones. When Shannan reached her apartment she was drenched by rain. But again, she had no time for a rest, changed her clothes, took her sports bag and hurried to reach the tram.
