Simultaneously a creature of great reverence, and immeasurable folly, Malaiena is a being of great mystery. Eternally wandering the earth in search of food, the raven is a creature as ancient as the night itself. Though few can ascertain to his true age, the raven will heartily accept the opportunity to play a trick on those who venture to guess. Uncanny wit and skill, grace this this creature in his ploys to gain the attention of those who surround him. Skillful at many things, the lazy raven often employs these devices in order to persuade his peers to help him in his pursuits. Able to change appearances at will, the raven will change himself to human form to deceive his peers. The raven often brags that his greatest pride is in his voice, which he considers the greatest of all the birds.
A trickster at heart, Malaiena gets the utmost joy from foiling those around him, with his cleaver tricks and games. Revered by many for his immeasurable wisdom, the raven heartily enjoys tricking those who seek his advice. Many a peasant who encounters this creature, will tell a tale of being forced into insane adventures to bring him a morsel. For this reason the noble raven has garnered many enemies as a result of his trickery. Proud and devious, Malaiena considers himself to be above approach and that is why few are ever allowed close to him.
Credited with having accomplishment many impressive deeds for his community, the raven is widely revered as a spiritual being. In spite of this, anything that he accomplishes is purely out of a selfish motive. And he isn't the least bit concerned if able to stir up a bit of trouble through his efforts. His voracious thirst for mischief dwarfs any of his better traits, resulting in many well-known conflicts. A trait that he readily shares with Medea, a rat who is his companion and friend. Though Medea doesn't always agree with the jokes played by her companion, she often humors him for the sake of adventure. Scarcely will the pair be spotted apart, and in the rare case that is so, mischief is often afoot.
