As Mydnyt prepares for another night shift at work, she tries to cast her mind back to when she started the job. Trawling back through the years, it seems she never was a raw beginner: it’s almost like she’s been doing this job for all eternity.
Picking up her uniform-issue gloves, she strolls over to the store cupboard and selects a suitable mop and bucket, before heading over to the shelves in the corner. Glancing over the range of cleaning products on the shelf, she chose a fancy looking can of cleaning fluid, and a couple of new dusters. Other cleaners might use the same duster day in, day out, but Mydnyt knows the best results come from brand new cleaning products: especially for a job as important as this.
Before setting off, she glances out of the window at the ever darkening sky. The starlight is feint tonight, but once she’s finished her cleaning, the stars will shine brightly once more. And even better, not one person in Subeta will be aware of the small team of cleaners, who devote their entire lives to keeping those stars clean.
