The others have been here as long as me, yes. Many of them much younger. We all are here to guide and protect, however we can, until the guided make it through.
I do not know why you are here, or how you arrived. Furthermore, I do not know what awaits you at the end. I am not allowed to pass through. All I know, is that those who pass through are never seen here again. Perhaps it is for their own good.
Yes, some never make it to the end. Those who fail the trials are also never seen again, and many simply give up. Many of those who give up have become our caretakers when we are not guiding.

Yes, that bird is following over us. It lives here, we are not sure if it is a spirit or a living creature. Sometimes it appears before a failure, many times it's presence means nothing at all. Do not pay it any mind, focus on the task at hand.
You seem like you will make it out, and see the outside we may never. But do not get too confident, that will surely fail you.
My name? We aren't given names. We just... know who we are talking to when we speak. I am usually called Guide by the guided.
Our caretakers also are not referred to by names.
It is a strict life. But it is a very safe, happy life. I do believe I am happy, and I believe the others are as well. We have had some Caretakers vanish... no one knows if they managed through the trials or failed. Sometimes they take a Guide, but we are not to talk about those that disappear.
