The year was 53 LM. Peace was everywhere, much like the cherry blossoms that now floated through the air. But she knew, deep down, this peace wouldn't last. It was something she had seen in her dreams time and again since she was young. A black mist blanketing the sky, blocking out the sun's life giving rays with an aura of dread. No longer did the air feel warm and full of energy. All around, people, animals and plants alike would fall, either out of despair or lack of the will to live. As the storm continued, a figure appeared in the distance. A lone warrior with piercing blue eyes and a katana that remained sheathed as he walked. She knew it was he who would rid this world of the darkness but her vision never panned out so she could see how it ended. She only knew that, when the warrior arrived, her dreams and visions would come true.
Today didn't seem like it would be that type of day though. It was too sunny, too full of happiness and love. Her teacher had promised her that, whatever the visions meant, she would not witness it in her lifetime. Although that gave her a small sense of relief, she could tell her own head-priestess was even shaken by it all.

The sounds of children's laughter and a random cherry blossom petal floating in front of her nose brought her back from her thoughts. Today was not the day to dwell on such things. The blooming of the flowers meant another year of prosper and good luck. That the gods were smiling down on them still. Lifting her head to the sky, she closed her eyes and let the rays fall down over her face, a small smile creeping it's way onto her lips. Yes, she will think nothing more on the matter of the vision until after the fort night of festivities was over...

Screams. That's all that could be heard as the wind whipped around the city almost as if it were alive. Rushing out on bare feet, she watched as the storm clouds rolled in at a monstrous pace, blocking the sunset that had once cascaded over the hills. As she mourned the loss of the warmth, she felt a numbness wash over her small form. Evil. Something evil was making its way into the city. But for what reason? Before she could come up with the smallest idea, a noise like the sound of a boulder falling on metal echoed across the area, causing her to kneel in fright. A scream escaped her lips as she covered her ears with her hands, closing her eyes in a hopeful gesture to help block it out.
She sat there, mumbling a small prayer of hope that this was another vision and not actually playing out before her. But it felt so real. Opening her eyes, she watched with horror as the clouds began swirling in the center of the fountain to form what seemed to be a cocoon. She doubted very much that a butterfly was going to emerge from the depths. And she was right. Seconds after, the wind completely stopped moving, an eerie silence rang over the landscape almost as if the earth itself were holding their breath. Nothing moved, nothing dared to. A beam of light shot from the cocoon just moments before it began to crack down the side to reveal a man. A man dressed in black and red. A man come to end the life as they know it and to make it his. To control every living being and use them as pawns or puppets. His playthings.

Months, or had it been longer, had gone by. Nothing had prepared her for what had happened. A powerful storm had kicked up once the man had left his shelter, resulting in complete and utter chaos. He had forced himself among the hierarchy, eventually coming to control what once was a sanctuary. Her home was now being overrun by barbarians and assassins. Men and women who enjoyed the sight of blood on their blades. She had watched as her maidens had been slaughtered so they wouldn't have to go through being defiled or sacrificed. And now, she was alone in the temple, being a servant to the vile man's needs as well as that of his "guests".
Why hadn't their savior come? Was there even one out there? These thoughts began to plague her mind each and every night as she watched the city she was born into, raised and blossomed in, crumble away every second. She knew she should give up, become and empty shell of her former self. But there was something, something bright and warm, tugging at her heart telling her not to give up. This would take everything in her to go through with it. But at what cost? Would she be the next victim? She wasn't sure she wanted to find out...
