Absytrus found himself washed up on shore, wet, alone, and unaware of his surroundings, and not to mention frightened. Water forced itself out of his sore lungs and he glanced one last time at this strange place before he shut his eyes and passed out on the sand.

“What oh what do we have here?” Merana said, staring at the weak creature before her. She knew he didn’t have more than a few hours left. She’d have to hurry.

She left the Anyu on the sand, as she knew he couldn’t breathe underwater and he was in no condition to try. Merana swam as fast as she could, knowing the only way to save his life was to use one of her potions. If she could somehow tie his energy to something stronger than himself, he’d pull through.

Frustrated, she kept pouring and stirring together anything she could, only to come up short. Then something happened when she tried once again; the mixture began to glow profusely and spark. This was worth a try. If it didn’t save him, she didn’t know what would.

She bottled the mixture and took it to him; he was becoming weaker. As the thick turquoise potion slowly made its way down his throat, he began to quiver and shake until he was seizing. But he wasn’t going to die.

Merana knew that the potion was tied to the energy of the island and that it would create a monster beyond all belief, but there was no other option.

The Anyu stopped shaking and had turned twice his original size.

Merana cackled and stared at the magnificent creature that could surely take on a Grizzly Bear.

“You are to be called Absytrus. Prince of the sea. Welcome to the Omen Islands.”
