Thornghast is an eccentric little manchu shaman, living as a hermit on the Omen Islands. He has a preoccupation with finding ways to elongate his lifespan, since he has a very intense fear of dying. Due to his experiments, he has created many potions which have successfully prolonged his life, but his appearance always remains old. His grim fear of death doesn't stop the shaman from having a good time, and he spends most of his time laughing and telling jokes (mostly to himself).

Despite his weird personality, Thornghast is a very intelligent creature who likes to share his knowledge with friends like the dragon Under. He will also create experiments to aid those who are his companions, or for strangers for a fee. He has even visited Bondage to try and remedy his sight problem, and is still trying to find a cure for the dragon.

When he is not questing to create the ultimate immortality elixir, Thornghast likes to burn various stimulating incense and dance as a free spirit or sit down and meditate. He also enjoys adorning himself with ornaments, fishing, and playing the didgeridoo.

Thorn has a soft spot for crabs, and likes to collect them as his companions- his favourite being one he named Rakk.
