Barely after she's done recovering from the long nights of dancing and catching up with old friends at the Libertine Lounge during the Atebus Revolution Masquerade, Vesnali suddenly rolls around. It still brings a smile to her face every year.
She was born during Vesnali, the beginning of a new life during a festival celebrating just that. Flowers and gifts soon surrounded the infant as friends and family wished good fortune on the new family. When she was given a soft plush egg as a gift, she smiled her first smile, and Vensali became her namesake.
As she grew, all of Subeta's holidays and festivals brought her joy, but none like Vesnali and its flowers, eggs and visits to Esther's shop and greenhouse. The young Kanis knew from the moment she set eyes on the inside of the greenhouse, smelled the earth and new growth surrounding her, that she wanted to be a gardener. She even dressed as Esther for Morostide one year when she was young, handing out flowers and Vesnali gifts from her basket.
She lived in Centropolis as a child, in a city surrounded by concrete instead of fresh earth much to her displeasure, but her childhood was filled with window boxes of anything she could get to grow and carefully cultivating her own houseplants with varying degrees of success. Each failure was a lesson, though, and soon she had quite the green thumb. She often went to the Seedlings shop to see if Emma had anything new or interesting in stock that she could try to grow.
When it came time for her to set out on her own path in life, she was surprised to find a visitor in her family home. Esther was admiring her pink and lavender moth orchids.
"These aren't easy to grow. You've done a beautiful job on these, and well, all of this." Esther gestured to the rest her own private indoor flower garden.
"Thank you," Vesnali replied, a blush creeping across her cheeks. "That means a lot, coming from you. I love your greenhouse."
"Thank you." Esther smiled. "That's actually what I came here to talk to you about. I'd like to offer you a position at the greenhouse. We could use someone with your talent. We have quite the demand for beautiful flowers from Subetans who don't have thumbs as green as yours."
"Of course! Thank you so much!" Vesnali tried not to be too ecstatic, but failed miserably. "I've always wanted to be a gardener, and my favorite place in the world is your greenhouse. This is really a dream come true."
