It all started with a question. It is the same question they all have - those four little words: "what is the MATRIX?". When posited to the right person, it used to get a human into a lot of trouble, with ME.

Generally it was I, Agent Jones, and my partner Agent Brown that were in control of our sector of the Matrix, until an increase in Resistance activity required another program, Agent Smith, to provide support in quelling any further human uprising.

But then they found HIM. The human called Neo, whom Smith determined through... necessary interrogation of a high-ranking Resistance captain, was to be "The One" to the insurgents of Zion. But we did not believe this to be true.Then Smith was destroyed in front of us by this human. I think it was the first time I experienced the emotion that humans call 'terror'. Now I know that feeling all too well.

Agent Brown and I are now left with our sector in peril, we do not know what is happening to the Matrix at large. Glitches and file deletions are occuring more rapidly, and the other programs signal far and wide of retrieval after retrieval of more humans from the powerplant in the real world. Both Brown and I are overwhelmed with our own rebels, and it is all we can do to stay running each day. Hopefully we will be upgraded soon, though I am unsure if either of us will survive this. I suppose these feelings are what the humans call doubt and despair.

I can only hope that after my inevitable deletion, my coding will find its way into a calm place where there is no Resistance, and somehow that the machines and the humans have found peace with one another. This is my deepest wish.
