Gavroche was a lost soul.
Mistreated as a child by those who were supposed to love him when no one else would; his parents, he had fallen off the path early in life.
He had a passion for the arts but was too poor to enrol in drama school and when mentioned to his parents they ridiculed him, "a position fit only for women and you want to do it?! What is wrong in that sick head of yours?"
Gavroche fled from his home and spent his days begging for money and then using it to get drunk or pay for sex.
When talk reached him of a ferry going to England - billed as the land of the prosperous, riches await anyone and everyone - Gavroche jumped at the opportunity and boarded the boat.
In England Gavroche discovered he had a talent for playing with people's minds, he became a skilled manipulator and con-artist and soon earned enough money to buy a derelict building that used to be a theatre.
But Gavroche had no plans of returning this theatre to its former glory; he instead used it for drinking, illegal gambling and ran a prostitution ring from inside its walls.
Everyone feared Gavroche, they had all heard the stories.
He now preyed on weak minded, innocent people whom no one would miss...
He approached the young and very attractive girl soon after she had finished her song and the crowds had parted:
"Your talent Mademoiselle! I have never before seen the likes of it in London! I must have you, you must come work for me!"
"Thank you for your words kind sir, but I do not believe my talent is nearly as good as you say, pray tell, who are you to recognise talent?"
"Vous ne me reconnaissez pas? Oh dear oh dear, but Mademoiselle, I am the great Gavroche! I own the theatre one street over, surely you have heard of my name? Come come ma jolie, I will take you to my theatre, we are going to put you on stage, there will be scripts written just for you and everyone will know your name!"
It was all too easy these days, thought Gavroche as he led the young girl back to his theatre...
