Terona. Not much is known about her. Some say shes purely myth, something created to scare travelers away. Others say shes a spirit, doomed to stalk the night forevermore because of evils done by her claws. But I know the truth...... It was a long time ago, when I was a young man fresh out of the house. I had worked hard that summer and had finally saved up enough gold to strike out on my own. I was young, and quite stupid.-chuckles- There was a legend about a vast empire to the west that stretched for hundreds of miles. It was one of the most powerful, and richest, empires ever to grace this land! But alas, how the mighty fall. They were not happy with what they had. They wanted more power. The king of this great land was so greedy for it that he employed the help of the Twilight Guard, a powerful race of wizards known for dabbling in magic of...eh...questionable origins. The king told them to give him something that could conquer the world! And, sadly, they did. Thus, Terona was born. But the Twilight Guard had hidden a secret about how their power worked. To create one thing, they also create the opposite of it. The other half, if you will. But thats another story.;) The king was very pleased with the Guard, and rewarded them handsomely! But Terona wasnt what the king had bargained for..... She turned on him, killing his whole family and absorbing their souls. With each soul she grew stronger, and more bloodthirsty. She went on a rampage and started destroying everything in her path! She turned the most powerful empire to ever live into rubble almost over night. Now, this is where the legend gets a little scarce. After the empire was gone, Terona disappeared. Most think she dissipated because she used all her power, or that she even died. But there are some who say shes still there, mad as ever and covered in the blood of the empire, but not strong enough to go on. Of course, me being a young stupid man, I only heard the part about the treasure. I set off immediately for this distant land to the west. I traveled for days, living off the land mostly, but occasionally stopping at a roadside tavern. Then, two weeks in, it happened..... I had just set up camp for the night when I heard this eerie wail coming from the surrounding woods. It was the most bone chilling noise you will ever hear. It sounded like a woman crying, but there was something.....wrong with it. But, I was afraid it might actually be someone in need. So I set out cautiously into the woods to try and find the woman. I walked a good ways into the woods when the crying stopped...... And everything became silent...... I slowly crept foreword, and thats when I saw her. Terona. She was cat like in shape, with fur as black as a thunderstorm. She had a mane of bloodred hair running the length of her body. She had to have stood twenty feet tall at the shoulder! Then she stirred, and I froze in place. Her massive head swung around and she fixed her immense red eyes on me. Blood covered her face, dripping from her snarling mouth. Two blood covered horns curled up from the base of her feline head. Her claws were the size of long swords, and were also covered in blood. I didnt know what to do! I thought for sure I was gona die right there. But then, a miracle happened. As I stared into Teronas red eyes, I saw a small glow in them. Like a reflection of some distant light. And it was growing. As it began to light the rest of her face, I thought I saw annoyance mixed with joy cross her face. Then, something large whipped over my head, knocking me to the ground! All around me the forest was on fire! But....it wasnt burning!! All the plants were intact! I looked to where Terona had been, but saw something unexpected. Standing where Terona had been was an almost exact copy of her, but it was red! A light, bright red! And instead of a bloodred mane, its back was adorned with fire. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen!! It swung its head around and looked at me with a huge yellow eye, and I thought for sure I saw amusement. Then the creature jumped into the air and....kept going up! It could fly!! It was then that I noticed a black shape high in the sky, shooting straight for the magnificent red creature. I yelled out a warning, but I was too late. Terona crashed into the angelic twin, and they both crashed to the earth some distance away. It was then that I found my legs, and I took off back to my camp! I packed up quickly, then I ran back the way I had come. I ran all the way home.haha. I was so scared I stayed in the house for a month. I still have nightmares about it to this very day! But every night, before I go to bed, I'm positive I see a flash of yellow and red streak across the sky, chasing a cloud of darkness.So, as far as I'm concerned, the legend of Terona is true.
