Is this life we have really of worth? All I can see is the smoke in the skies and the blurry lines of towering buildings. All I can hear is the clanking of metal and the gunshots. All I can smell is the acrid scent that lingers and the metallic one of oil. All I can taste is fear. All I can touch is of coldness. All I can feel is emptiness... Because nothing resides within the cove of my chest. What is love? Danger? Fear? Sadness?

And why am I so different from you?

Earth was already advanced then. Machines were built and buildings no longer touched earthen ground. Cars flew and aeroplanes were no longer a necessity, teleportation the trend. A wrist-watch now held access to a system to talk, browse, find loactions, and read. Computers were no longer big and instead, the programs suspended in air, and whenever you said 'Photoshop', you could draw on space with your mere finger.

Machinations were built so intelligently that they replaced human working labour. They were used as military and as maids, even as security. But the humans had something they didn't... A functioning conscience. Machines were just machines, even when virtual intelligences were implanted. That year, a group of scientists banded together to create the group known as 'Matire'.

Because of them, many good things happened. Because of them, Hell broke loose.

The members of the organisation wanted to test what would happen to the machines if they had consciousness and so, they experimented. First, they took the thrown out machines and repaired the damaged. Next, they would implant their very own craft.

They failed many times. After years, one succesful experiment was born: Subject #465

They achieved this by implanting human brains into the experiment. Electrical impulses were sent, the machine revved and when they asked it about what it thought about the colour, instead of responding with a mere "Error: Question Unknown. No data file', it said, "They are beautfiul". This answer was further backed up because the person they took the brain from had a love for white, the colour of the walls.

And they sold him to a company, Raven Inc., who then hired Matire to make more and from then on, Matire became Matire corp.

But malfunctions happened to them, as some disappeared or worse, rebelled. Unknown to many, Raven inc. destroyed most of them, torching them as apathetic screams and beeps erupted in the flames.

And unknown to most, a rebel group formed. They live in the shadows and until now, thrive invisibly.
