_{While Nikolai, Iszak, and Holland are characters that I've worked on for three years, their profiles and the pet description are still WIPs. Please bear with me, I'm working on them.}

For the most part, up until he met Iszak, Nikolai's life was normal, albeit a bit lonely. From a young age, Nikolai was extremely shy, and he didn't make many friends, and got made fun of because of his general awkwardness, but he found refuge in the fantasy world of books. Even though he still got made fun of and sometimes beat up for being so antisocial, Nikolai continued to spend the majority of his free time reading up until his early teens.

When Nikolai was thirteen, he began to take swimming lessons, and took to the water like a natural. He could swim faster and dive deeper than people who were enrolled in the swimming lessons for months in his first few weeks of the lessons. The director of the swimming lessons convinced him to join the swim team, and so, he did. For once in his life, Nikolai was an integral part of a group, outside of his family. For a while, Nikolai was the fastest swimmer in his entire swim league. But because he started smoking when he was fifteen, Nikolai's lung capacity decreased significantly and he decided to quit the team. He still continues to swim, and he's still good at what he does, but he's slower than he used to be, and can't swim as fast for as long as he used to be able to.

Nikolai met his boyfriend, Iszak, through pure dumb luck. After being picked on by a group of bullies one day, Nikolai was shoved into a supply closet and locked inside. He stayed in there for the first few hours of class, until Iszak, who had been spending the morning in a toy store, passed by the supply closet. Iszak was in one of his better moods that day, and upon hearing Nikolai begging Iszak to let him out of the closet, picked the lock and helped Nikolai out. That should have been the end of the story, and Nikolai and Iszak should have stayed complete strangers after that, but fate had other plans for the two, and Iszak had to save Nikolai once again, this time, outside of school, when he was being beat up by the same bullies who locked him in the supply closet. Still being in his good mood, Iszak saved Nikolai once again. Although usually shy and quiet around strangers, out of gratitude, Nikolai took Iszak out for some coffee. The two soon became close friends after that. However, it was only until a trip to a nearby lake that the two revealed their true feelings for one another. [needs to be continued...]
