Who is Suzaku? How sheltered are you?

Suzaku is a pirate; she is the captain of one of the most feared crews on the sea. Bad children are told that she will come for them in the night. Her name is spoken with awe in the shadiest taverns and brothels. Cutthroats and rogues freeze upon hearing her name, glancing furtively behind them. She is the bogey-man of the age: the dark thing that hunts after dark has fallen.

Who am I? Now that is a much better question.

My name is Kai-Ryu. Yes, sea-dragon. I realize how cliche that is, considering that I am a sailor. Ah, and now you are staring at my horns. I have a tail and claws as well, would you like to investigate those too?

Oh, have I offended you? I apologize. I do not appreciate the stares my state draws, but it is a fact that I am different, and thus people will look. This is one of the reasons I prefer to stay on the ship. I grow constantly weary of children pointing and mothers dragging them out of sight. I tire of the stifled gasps and murmurs as I enter rooms.

Did you think me a beast? It seems my intelligence has shocked you. I can converse with the most intelligent scholar, I assure you, but I prefer to hold my tongue before others. Are you wondering, then, why am I speaking thusly to you? Well, you seem interesting. You didn't start or avoid me as I walked close. Call me curious.

What am I, you ask? Hmm, now that is a slightly harder question to answer. I do not know, or, at the least, I am not a hundred percent sure. I believe that I am part dragon, which makes my name even more apt. Ah, see, now you look sceptical. How about this then; I can withstand most fires, I can read wind patterns as if I was born to it and I am able to lift more than any human I have ever met.

Flaws? Why would you want to know my flaws? I can assure you that I am far from perfect. I have never beaten my crew's first-mate with a sword, and I highly doubt I ever will. I cannot cook anything remotely edible. I cannot sing a note on-pitch to save my life. I cannot quit something once I have started it, much to the chagrin of my captain. There are a myriad of other things that I could count as flawed, not the least being that people fear me. People fear differences.

And now we are back to our beginning. Do you have any more questions, little human?

Ah, my past. That is one thing I do not recall. I awoke aboard the ship I currently serve on. The captain called it amnesia. I won't speak of it further.

Who is my captain? Now that is the finest question you have asked so far. I will answer this final question and be on my way.
