Paranormal Investigator: A person who investigates claims of the supernatural in order to obtain scientific evidence towards the existence of ghosts.
Demon: A supernatural entity generally thought of as malevolent spirit. The original Greek however, does not imply any of the malevolence now associated through the spread of various world religions.

Hello everyone! The name's Paranoir, but most people just call me Noir ;). I guess you're here because you want to learn more about the exciting field of paranormal investigation. Let me just begin by saying that I'm glad you're here and interested in this exciting field! Before you begin however, we here at the Paranormal Investigations Society would like to give you a brief introduction to the things you can expect to encounter, and the equipment you'll be working with.
In the field you're likely to encounter a few different types of activity that can be construed as paranormal (after your evidence is looked over by an expert of course!). Let's go over those phenomenon and get you familiar with some common terms.
- Orb- An orb is the most common kind of manifestation you'll come across in your investigations. An orb is, as it sounds, is an orb of light, generally seen to appear before darting to another location and disappearing. The color of orbs is also something to be aware of as red orbs are thought to represent demonic entities. Orbs need to be approached with an air of skepticism however as they could be over exposed incests or dust on the film.
- Mist- Sometimes an entity will manifest itself as a hazy mist. If captured on film mists have also been seen to move. Remember not to assume paranormal origin!
- Full body apparitions- The most striking and exciting of all manifestations! A full body apparition is the full outline of a person (or a in rare cases, features are clearly visible as well). Full body apparitions are rare and exciting to see, though they are mostly captured on film rather than seen with the naked eye.
- Shadow people- Another striking apparition, but more frightening than a full body. Shadow people are, as their name suggests, shadowy figures that manifest, but move and disappear quickly. They have been associated with demonic activity, so use caution!
- EVP- Standing for 'Electronic Voice Phenomenon' these are spirit voices captured on recording devices. The clearer the words and phrases (and in some cases, their relation to asked questions), the higher the class with Class A being the best.
- Some common sounds: You'll come across some common sounds in your investigations, but they don't necessarily have paranormal origins. They include bumps, knocks, bangs, footsteps, and whistles.
