35 years ago, Neah Walker nearly destroyed the Noah family, successfully killing most of them. However, he was not able to defeat the Millennium Earl (though the attempt was a near success), and was subsequently killed. Before he died, however, he implanted his memories into his nephew, Allen Walker, vowing to return from the dead. His last request was the Cross Marian watch over his older brother, Mana Walker, until he returned. And so, Allen lived unaware of Neah's memories for many years...until he became an exorcist.

When Allen came close to death at the hands of Tyki Mikk, Neah's memories began to manifest themselves in his head. Neah began to erode Allen with his memories, turning the young exorcist's body into his own from the inside out. Eventually he would take over Allen's body and he would be able to continue his fight and fulfill his promise to Mana. But, when Neah took over, Allen would have to kill someone he loved...

There is nothing Allen can do to stop the progression. Upon being attacked by a level 4 akuma, Neah awakened and called to the Earl through the akuma, igniting the Earl's hatred against his old 'friend'. This caused the Earl to start an attack against the Black Order to draw Allen out. At a later point during the battle Kanda attacks Allen with Mugen, causing Neah to nearly awaken fully and take control of Allen (during which time Neah finally reveals himself fully to Allen). However, Timcampy is able to stop the transformation. However, the battle is not over....
