The legend of the golden bird...
There was once a hunter
Who saw a golden bird
With song so sweet that reached his ears
It brought up in his eyes to tears
This bird he wanted as his own
Not to share this beauty, but alone
So went he to a witch's hut
And asked her a way to contain
Such as the little bird was quick
It darted, dashed, and frolicked
High up in the sky, where there
The hunter could not reach it
The witch said then
"Take here this cage
It has a little spell
It'll hold your little golden bird
And keep it to sing so well."
So off the hunter went
To catch his lovely prize
He lured the bird with food in seed
And snatched it up as it came close
The golden bird was captive
It cried out in despair
Attempts at escape in vain
She resigned to fate
But never did the hunter
Once think of the bird's love for the skies
And so the bird grew silent
Refusing all to sing
Unable to escape the witch's curse
And slowly dying inside.
