Geography & History

In another reality, there were two star sisters who were so close that they breathed together: as one Exhaled, the other Inhaled. Their names were Aine and Grian. One day, they created a world and called it Inwonahe. Shortly thereafter they had a quarrel that was so violent it severely wounded Grian, lessening her light, and created a bubble universe. Now Aine and Grian forever chase each other around Inwonahe, their quarrel never resolved. Aine is the sun, and Grian is the moon.

Inwonahe

The first signs of life in this world flew off Aine and Grian as sparks when they danced and became the start of mighty nations. In the Ainean, there were Kariye and Fades. In the Grian, there were Patricia and Anara.

{ Ainean Hemisphere }

The Ainean Hemisphere gets the most light as it is most favored by Aine, who "won" the sisters' quarrel. It is colorful and diverse; the largest continent is called Iarkii and the biggest city on that continent is Coloratura.

Iarkii Continent

There are six tribes/groups on Iarkii based on color. Because they mostly didn't intermix, they became rather homogenous in coloring and color-related names for their children became wildly popular. As the groups grew larger and closer together, they began mingling more, resulting in some Iarkiians being born with a more rainbow-like (🌈) hue.

Red Group

Auburn, 🌈Burgundy, 🌈Crimson, Garnet, Scarlet
Crimson may also have a brother.

Orange Group

Amber, Honey, 🌈Marigold, Ruddle, 🌈Saffron

Yellow Group

Daisy is Jasmine's older sister, but she went missing several years ago. Jasmine is currently on a mission to find her.

Blue Group

The Blue Group's ancestors originally founded Coloratura and live almost exclusively in and around the city. They have also been the most "friendly" with the other tribes, so even most of their bluer members have a rainbow hue about them.

{ Grianene Hemisphere }

The largest continent in the Grianene Hemisphere is called Stari. It also includes Igrushka Island and the cove which the pirates keep as their base of operations.

Stari Continent

Stari houses the Library; the mountains from which ink is harvested, including Neverest; and the town of Alltumn. While both explored the mountains together, Patricia's work was an early precursor to the Library and Anara founded Alltumn.

The Library

The Library is a collection of works containing all the stories of Inwonahe, both fiction and non-fiction. Some grow organically there, and others are written by its scribes and illustrators. In the center of the Library is a living magical tree that has been taken care of for hundreds of years by stray cats who have become sentient and developed a society of their own.

Alltumn

About 2/3 of Stari (the southern part) has weather that makes it perpetually autumn-like. There is good soil and the seasons (except for autumn) pass quickly, so crops grow quickly as well. Therefore much of this part of the continent is farms.In the center is Alltumn, a quaint large town (or small city) where many tradesmen live and where the farmers can come to sell their wares. Pirates Cove

Coax is a part of siren-type genderfluid people who lived peacefully in the ocean until they were disturbed and Coax's pregnant SO was murdered. She became a pirate as revenge.
Hark is another siren who is Coax's first mate.
Souris is the younger sister of Avis and Rien who ran away to join the pirates.
Deny is a sea monster who the pirates pursue and Coax eventually falls in love with.

{ Myths & Legends }

Inwonahe has its own set of mythological creatures. Aine and Grian are two of these; they are seen as both the sun and moon as well as the creators and goddesses of the world. The others include:

Temnota - the goddess of darkness who came into being at the moment of the star sisters' quarrel

Arco Iris - the first rainbow that holds up the sky
Aruna - will-o-the-wisp

Zyrek

Zyrek is the bubble universe that was created when Aine and Grian had their large fight at the beginning of the world. Since its inception, it is in a constant state of decay and its inhabitants are looking for a way out. Some have succeeded.

There are exactly twelve inhabitants of Zyrek - no more, no less. Each represents an element of the bubble universe as well as a literary archetype. Each also has a double name.

Belong - the Rebel; she was the first to enter Inwonahe by the mountain Neverest, which sometimes pierces the veil between the two worlds.
Quickly - the Magician; responsible for Turn's entry into Inwonahe and Rien's predicament.
Quintessential (Quin) - the Ruler; she must be the last to leave Zyrek because without her element it would cease to exist.
Carnations - the Caregiver; the queen of Zyrek.
Correct - the Innocent; Carnations' trusted advisor.
Turn - the Explorer; volunteers for Quickly's experiments and comes to Inwonahe, where he falls in love with Catricia.
