Baguette used to be normal, back when she was a child. At ten she was already popular with the other kids, smart, loved playing in the dirt with any animal willing to come near her, and you could already tell she was destined to be drop-dead gorgeous. She had the most beautiful platinum gold hair, crystallized blue eyes and the most adorable freckles. Her mother was a stay-at-home mom and her father worked at the power plant in town. She would visit him every day to play their usual hide-and-go-seek with the other workers there; they were lucky the owner had such a big admiration for a child's innocence.
One day when they were running around on break a man came running through the halls, they paid him no mind and continued playing. When the break was over they headed back to her father's work area. As they rounded the corner they heard the owners voice "Just... Just put it down. Nobody has to be hurt here! You just nee--"
"NEED SOME HELP, YEAH, YOU HAVE SAID THAT. THAT IS WHY YOU FIRED ME. I'LL SHOW YOU 'MENTAL INSTABILITIES'!" As he had finished yelling he ran around the corner, the same man that nearly knocked them over earlier, and began shooting at various walls. And the owner veered around the corner, running at pace a man his size would normally never go, yelling "Get out of here, run! He has planted bombs---" and the explosions began.
They seemed to be going off in every direction. Baguette, being carried by her father, kept her eyes shut and ears covered. There was a big explosion right where they were running. She felt her fathers arms come undone around her and her helpless body flying through the air, in that split second she--Opened my eyes. I will never forget the image of my father being... being... completely destroyed by the explosion. There was nothing left.
And then she flew in to a metal vat of a funny tasting liquid and blacked out. When she came-to there were already police and medics all around, searching for some kind of life. When they noticed her they rushed to her aid, but she was too panic stricken. The air around them began to get cold, then it began to snow; but she felt nothing as everybody around her began to freeze. In her fit she ran away, taking the cold with her. As she was hiding in the woods just outside the city, in a bed of fresh snow, the man arose. The man from within the power plant. Before he could see her he began to sweat. "YOU!" she yelled, steam seaming to rise from where the snow once lay.
He fell to his knees "My blood... My blood is boiling!" just as boils began to form all around his skin. And she walked away, calmer than she has ever been. She knew what had happened, and she knew who she was now. The extent of her powers were still unclear, but she knew.
At fifteen she learned the other end of her temperature control powers, by turning her then-cheating boyfriend's blood in to ice. She also began fighting crime with Patissier. While out with him one night a woman opened fire on her and she learned of her defensive powers, her ability to freeze her body and the pros and cons that came with it. She was almost indestructible and if she is already hurt or gets hurt, she can heal rapidly in this state; however it takes a lot out of her. The first time she was in this state it was only for twenty minutes, but when she unfroze she blacked out-- For two weeks. Her abilities are stronger now, but she still only goes short periods of time in this state just to make sure.
Her passion for breads and her friendship with Patissier is what made her into an artisans bread expert. I also wanted to be a veterinarian, but I don't think I could ever stand seeing so many hurt animals! It would break my heart. So she trained with him and when the day came that Patissier was able to open his shop, she jumped at the chance to work under him. He might call me an expert, but I learned almost everything I know from him!
