Crystalyn was a ten year old girl who had lost her parents to the war. Her only company was a -?- named -?-. The city in which she lived was in looked like a wasteland. The buildings were damaged, and the air was filled with the foul smell of smoke. And yet, quite a number people who had nowhere to go, including herself, still lived there.
To survive and earn some money for food, Crystal sold matchsticks and bullets that she found on the streets to soldiers that needed them. -?- helped her look for them with his keen sense of smell.
One foggy morning, while searching for matchsticks and bullets, a bomb had been detonated a few yards away from Crystal. The explosion threw her back. The snow cushioned her fall. But unfortunately, her left arm had been severely injured. Parts of her body were burnt. She was in excruciating pain. She went to search for help, but no one was there to tend to her. Physical exhaustion and the loss of bodily fluids got to her, and she fell to the floor, unconscious.
A week later, she found herself waking up in a strange home. She was wrapped in bandages and it surprised her that she didn't feel anything with her left arm. To her surprise, it had been amputated. She screamed with horror, and a man dressed in a dirty labcoat came running into the room.
