NEVERENDING

Our tale once began on Hallow's Eve.

A hundred years ago on Hallow's Eve, a man died a tragic death. The one note interesting to his death is that no one ever knew the killer. Even those who may have witnessed his death cannot explain what happened. His name has been lost and most likely never be found, but the tale lives on. The story doesn't seem to be right, but nor is it wrong. From here, the tale begins...

A man was walking on the street on Hallow's Eve. Most locked their and shut their windows in fear that the death was about. This man did not believe that the death was about and always had treated the one night as any other. This one year though, he would not be seen again. He continued walking back to his home, a couple of blocks away. After awhile, a cat began to follow him.

It was a classic black cat, but it kept his head down as it followed silently behind. The man eventually turned around and saw the cat. It stopped when he stopped. He told it to run elsewhere as he did not want to be bothered by such scum. The cat did not move. Again, the man told it to go away. Still, the cat did not move. On the third and final time the man told the cat to leave him alone, his words were cut short. The cat looked up at him.

The man stumbled onto the ground in fear. The cat walked closer to him and closer. The man was scared of its face as one of its eyes was angry and the other was happy. Its mouth was carved like a jack-o-lantern's and it only smiled, never frowned. Finally the cat stopped walking towards him. It the opened its mouth to reveal its long tongue and blooded mouth. It uttered one word: "Eat."

That man was never heard from again. Some say the creature at him up in one gulp. Others just don't believe the story entirely. They say it was made up to scare children away from Hallow's Eve to keep them safe. One thing is true though. A man did die that day, weather or not it was by this had been long forgotten.
