The light of the guiding star

It hasn’t been very long since I was first introduced to this Swedish power metal band, but ever since I first heard one of their songs I have loved their music. I think it must have been in either 2020 or, possibly, in 2021 that YouTube first recommended one of their official videos for me when I was checking out other metal songs on the site. And boy am I grateful for what the algorithm did that day! What I love the most about their music is that many of their songs are fantasy based. I love fantasy, especially the high fantasy kind. And the fact that they have some nice melodies added to their songs is just another plus for me.

These are the honorable mentions of songs that didn't quite make my top ten list, but that I still very much like: Behind the Moon, Nosferatu, Metal Monster, Crucified, Desdemonamelia, Screams In the Night, For the King, Midnight Sun, Sign of the Devil, The Tempter, Bless the Unholy, Flames of Purgatory, Into Eternity, Black Shadows, Seven Angels, Dominion 5, All Rights Reserved, Drop the Bomb, Together We Fight, Message From Hell, In the Name of Metal, Bonebreaker, Metalheads Unite, Mr. Darkness, I’m Evil, Monstermind, Black Devil, Satanic Panic, Iron Throne, Stormborn, We Raise the Dead, Made of Steel, Blood of My Blood, When the Kingdom Will Fall, Seven Hells, When All Lights Fail, Stand and Fight, Guardian At Heaven’s Gate, Symphony Satana, Starfall, Slayer of Kings, Skyriders and Stormbringers, Magical Eye, Blackwater Bay, Giants of Heaven, Breaking the Beast, Balerion, Reign of Fire, When Fate Is Calling, Ever Burning Flame, Eyes Come Alive, Gathering of Souls, Kill Or Be Killer, Face of Evil, March Into War and The Wicked and the Weak.

Now, let’s move on to the most important bit of this. The list of my top ten favorite songs (so far) by this lovely band!

We start off the list with this one, which is one of Bloodbound’s calmer songs. And that is honestly one of the reasons that I like it. It’s got a great build-up at the start before getting to the chorus. And the chorus itself is pretty powerful! Now this one is definitely a lot more power metal-y than the previous one. It’s got a nice drive to it, and shows off Patrik’s voice nicely as well. It’s just a great song to rock out to. This is one of those fantasy based songs of this band that I really love. It’s powerful and just awesome to listen to. The War of Dragons album is definitely one of my favorite albums that they’ve made so far, along with the Rise of the Dragon Empire one! Honestly, my absolute favorite bit of this song is the chorus. And more specifically the bit where he sings “That’s what the devil said, in the book of the dead”. But it also has a great, and powerful, melody to it, with great guitars. Great sound and melody. And the way it gets more powerful for the chorus is just chef’s kiss to me. Another song from that great album. It’s got a great drive to it, and is very power metal-y to me. And the almost choir-like way that the chorus is sung adds a special something to this song that makes it even better to me. That this one means a lot to me has much to do with nostalgia for me, because it’s about the Lords of the Rings. I love both the books and movies, and this song is a great homage to it in my eyes. And it’s also just a great song. I love how the drums sound like horses running as well. Okay, we’ve now reached the top three songs on this list of mine. And in third place we find this wonderful song. I absolutely love the flute in this song, as well as that choir-like sound that is in it. But the best bit for me is the chorus. I love the overall melody of the song, but it is at its best in the chorus, for sure. And again, the high fantasy aspect of the subject matter gives this song a huge gold star from me. Like the previous song this one also gets a gold star for the high fantasy aspect of it. The biggest reason that this one placed higher on the list than the last one is because it has lyrics and a sound that just makes it take on the form of a great story to me. It feels dramatic, which I love. My favorite song by this band (so far) is by far this one! It’s got an amazing melody to it, an intoxicating drive to it as well as a high fantasy story being told through the great lyrics. It just couldn’t be better to me ♥️

Will take you to heaven

Because I’m so new to loving this band I, honestly, have no idea how popular, or well known, they are outside of Sweden. Heck, I don’t even know if they are very well known in Sweden XD
But what I do know is that I love them. Because I found them, and love them as much as I do, I listen to new bands every now and then hoping to find more bands that have a similar style. I, honestly, can’t express how much I enjoy the combination of high fantasy and metal music!

Something else that I know is that I will be looking forward to listening to anything new that this band releases in the future ♥️

And back to where we started from
