These medallions hold monsters. They are excellent war machines.
Perfect for scaring kids. Absolutely suitable for going to war.
Merciless.

But not every medallion held a real monster.
One of the medallions was passed down from generation to generation.
It was originally from an army soldier who died in WW1.
No one knew what the medallion did.

One day a child found it while she helped her mother clean out a shelf.
"Mum, what is this?" the young girl asked as she was holding
the medallion in her tiny hands.
"This medallion used to be your great-grandfather's", said the mother.
"It is pretty, Mum, can I have it?" she asked.
"Of course baby", said the mother.

The child took it to bed that night.
She looked closely at it before she went to bed, and she held it against her cheek.
"Good night Great-Grandpa", she said.
While the medallion touched her cheek, it started to glow.
The girl looked at it in amazement.
Her little fingers stroked the cold metal.
And suddenly, BAM!
A small flash of light.
And there was a monster sitting at the foot end of her bed.
It was about 50 cm high.
Two heads.
Lots of colors.
The girl's mouth dropped open and she blinked in astonishment.
"Hi", she softly whispered.
"Hi", the monster answered in a soft gentle voice.
The monster looked around the room.
"It's dark, you should sleep, young lady. If you want to see us again, hold the medallion against your cheek and we will be here. But shh, keep us a secret."
