Reopening his eyes, a shadow caught his attention to the east, just off the old beaten path that led to his pack. With the utmost caution, the creature rose from his resting spot, sniffing at the air surrounding him in an attempt to find any scent that smelled familiar. Almost immediately, the creature plopped back down on the patch of grass he had been lying in.

Thirteen. It's my turn to guard the pack, so why don't you head on home? The creature that had just spoken seemed to be young- really young- and a little too enthusiastic for Thirteen's liking. He lifted his head from his paws and looked at the young pup standing before him. Declin, the Betas son, and the most likely to pair up with the Alphas daughter, stood before him with a tail wagging so fast that it had become a blur.

Declin, this is no place for a pup to be playing. Go find me Rourik or Covi, and then stay out of their way! Thirteen snapped, baring his teeth. He was sick and tired of these know-it-all pups thinking they could take on the world when they literally knew nothing about it. When the pup didn't respond, Thirteen turned his head and looked at him again. Were those tears running down the pups face?

Thirteen... Rourik and Covi have both been severely injured in the most recent raid. They... the pup trailed off again, his tail drooping between his back paws before he spoke again. ...they were hurt protecting me.

Seeing the obvious pain the pup was in, Thirteen rose and padded over to him, allowing his tail to rest just above the pup's shoulders. I'm sure Rourik and Covi will heal perfectly fine, and be ready to fight again soon. Don't be too hard on yourself, boy. Take this as a learning experience, and do your best to follow the instructions of your mentor. One day you will be the one who has to protect the pack from harm-- but today is not your day. Sensing that the pup was finally calming down, he lifted his head until he could see the northern peak of the Morko Mountains. There was a sense of dread weighing heavily on the warrior's mind- something honestly wasn't right.
